The Galway Christmas Market is a must for anyone who enjoys good food and crafts. Once again it is taking place in Eyre’s Square in the centre of the city. The market promises to be a highlight of the Christmas season including Santa’s Grotto, a German bier keller, numerous gifts and snack stalls and an entertainment area.
Galway City on Ice is also a huge attraction. The pier has been transformed into one of Ireland’s premier Christmas ice skating rinks. What could be more fun than and a “Date on Ice”, with a warming hot chocolate and great company to boot !!!
For those looking for outdoor pursuits why not try the many walks around Connemara catering for beginners through to advanced and enjoy the natural beauty that Galway has to offer. Or for the very fit take part in the 11th running of the Fields of Athenry 10k which takes place Dec 26th. It is one of the largest events of its kind in the country. You can burn off all those mince pies!
